What is the CBT?

This is a one day training course designed for novices, but which everyone must take to be able to ride a motorcycle on the road, or to take a Motorcycle Test.

The CBT course begins in a safe off road area, where we teach you a little theory, followed by basic control techniques.

You will progress to simulated junctions and emergency braking. Finally, we go out on the road, to make sure that you are safe on roundabouts, junctions and in a variety of traffic conditions.

Do I need a CBT?

A valid CBT will qualify you to ride a 50cc at 16 years of age, and a 125cc at 17 years plus. If you are thinking of taking a motorcycle test to ride bigger bikes you will still need to start with a CBT – this is included in both the DAS and restricted access courses.
